CRASH
Everyone on the right has been jumping all over Wesley Clark for suggesting that perhaps being shot down and captured, imprisoned and tortured is not necessarily a qualification for leading a nation. Well, let’s face it. IT AIN’T. Although some people are questioning what went on during McCain’s years of confinement–and indeed, his support of the Bush Administration’s torture policies makes one wonder–until there is solid evidence to the contrary, John McCain is a war hero in my books. But is that a qualification for leading a nation? Not just any nation, but the most powerful in the world, and one which is embroiled in a really bad mistake by our Idiot-In-Chief. Correct that, make it whole MESS of mistakes, stupidities, and panderings to the greed class by our Idiot-In-Chief. John McCain’s war record shows how patriotic and courageous he is. And yes, our president ought to be patriotic. But the real qualifications are his intelligence, his leadership, his willingness to work with our lawmakers and with other heads of state. This posturing by the Republican Party is simply an attempt to limit debate. And Barack Obama was stupid for kneejerk repudiation of Clark’s common sense statement.
