Just Remember This Rule When You Go To Vote On Tuesday :)

I woke up with this idea today and thought, Man, I wish I wasn’t just a political/social commentator, this is a cute idea. Then I thought, well, everything you DRAW has a political/social context just by virtue of its being HERE. A variation of the “Pottery Barn” rule of Colin Powell, you break it, you take it? Only a bit more to the point, you bring it home, you get to take care of it for YEARS. And yes, it was inspired by “The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy” (not to mention Winsor McKay’s “Gertie the DInosaur”), but I decided not to do it in the style of the TV show, because it didn’t work in the context of my page 🙂

We see that John Kerry has stuck his foot in his mouth again. He really has to learn that you can’t change a punchline and think you’re still telling the same joke. His prepared speech shows that he left out an “us”. Well, there’s a world of difference between the two lines, with and without the “us”. And in these days of soundbyte politics, you must realize that NO ONE except your immediate audience is going to get the context. Everyone else will get the soundbyte. If Kerry is serious about an ’08 run for the presidency, he’s going to have to learn to analyze his speeches in terms of the out-of-context quote.

We see also our old friend, Don Sherwood, is back in the news, having to pay his ex-mistress one-half mil for trying to strangle her. (AP) Rep. paying ex-mistress about $500K George Bush went to stump for him, but we though we should provide a timely reminder of what he got in trouble for 🙂 from our archives.
