Would You Vote For A Grown Man Who Calls Himself ‘Butch’?

(CSMonitor) Gray wolves may lose US protected status. “‘The [proposed] rule will allow the killing of so many wolves that the population will no longer be viable and will in fact quickly revert to endangered,’ says Michael Robinson, a wolf expert with the Center for Biological Diversity in Tucson, Ariz. Delisting at this point, says Mr. Robinson, is ‘blatantly illegal.’
But state and local officials in the Northern Rockies are, for the most part, moving in the opposite direction.
Idaho Gov. C.L. ‘Butch’ Otter (R) wants to reduce the number of wolves in his state from about 650 today to fewer than 150 [^] barely more than the minimum needed to avoid relisting under the Endangered Species Act. ‘I’m prepared to bid for that first ticket to shoot a wolf myself,” Governor Otter told a recent rally of hunters in Boise, according to local and statewide press.’

(AFP) US wolves taken off endangered list, clearing way for hunting. “In Idaho, where anti-wolf sentiments run high, Governor Butch Otter has called for the killing of 550 wolves, or 85 percent of the state’s wolf population. In the federally approved plan submitted by state game managers, Idaho would manage at least 150 wolves.” Otter’s plan would leave only about 100.

(IdahoPress)A month into office, Idaho’s Otter governs from his gut. Just like Dubya–and we’ve all seen how bad decision-making from the gut can be when you have an idiot in charge…

Apologies To Stephen Colbert, But Today’s Topic Is … Bears!

(WorldNetDaily) A GREEN GOSPEL–Poll: 70% of evangelicals see global warming threat

In the Gospel According to Dubyus, global warming is, of course, something to be “studied” rather than something that needs anything DONE. That’s because there’s still money to be made by polluting the environment by Big Oil, money to be made by felling trees by Big Lumber. Business’s idea of alternative fuel is coal or nuclear power. But the polar ice caps are shrinking. Evangelical Christians are not known for their stand on the environment, but many of them have come to the conclusion that if God has given man stewardship of the earth, then we have an obligation to each other and the rest of God’s creation not to destroy His handiwork by our own carelessness and greed.
