After that little problem with Heloise left him bereft of his Johnson, Peter Abelard thought LOTS about the nature of sin. He decided that performing an evil act is merely a crime, the sin is the decision to do evil, i.e., the intent. He also examined the hypothetical situation of a bunch of nuns tying up a monk and forcing him to have sex with them in terms of whether or not the monk had committed a sin by his nonconsentual participation…nope–seeeeeee, no intent!

He was pretty weird…
